A Language Map of Europe

Hey all,

during half-term I suddenly wondered what Europe would look like if, instead of being divided into countries based on kings and empires, it was arranged according to the languages that people spoke.

So I decided to make a map in paint.net (because I can't afford Photoshop) and it came out looking like this.

I used wikipedia and google images to find language maps, that often disagreed with each other, and coloured in different areas according to whether a majority of people spoke a certain language in that area.

I coloured in places like Wales and Scotland in different colours to English because people speak a language alongside English, whereas in England people only really speak English.

Unfortunately, as you may be able to see from the map, I ran into some problems when dealing with places like Denmark where a lot  of people speak Swedish, and languages like Russian and Arabic where the language is spoken over a large area and as such likely varies greatly.

Unfortunately I am clueless when it comes to Arabic or Russian culture and so I would like to ask you, whether you're foreign language students or foreign nationals, to help me improve upon this map so that maybe one day in the future we can have a logical arrangement of countries or the like.

that will probably never happen though, but the map does look nice.
